Alastair Smith
Alastair has been employed in the construction and property sector for over 25 years, working for major contractors and developers on commercial office, hotel and retail projects.
As a co-founder of Platform, he has been involved in a range of projects since the company was established in 2010. New build commercial schemes include the Silver Fin Building, 90 Long Acre, 1 New Street Square and Macintosh House, with refurbishment projects at Berkeley Square and Templar House. Alastair is involved in private healthcare projects in the Harley Street area of London, as well as overseeing feasibility studies for clients on potential acquisitions and development schemes.
Before setting up Platform, Alastair spent 11 years at More London, where he was responsible for the delivery of individual phases of the development from start to finish. Managing the occupation by PwC of the final More London building, Alastair worked closely with both base building and fit-out design teams, to achieve the first ‘Outstanding’ BREEAM accreditation in the UK for a major commercial building.
Alastair was also responsible for the delivery of 6 More London Place, a striking office building designed by Foster + Partners at the entrance to the development, and led the Tower Bridge Hilton hotel project, delivering the first new-build 4-star hotel in London for 20 years - fully fitted and equipped ready for use; the hotel is one of Hilton’s flagship operations in London.
Prior to More London Alastair worked for the development arm of CIT, having started his career working for by Sir Robert McAlpine and then Bovis Construction, working on construction projects ranging from office buildings and retail centres, to engineering projects at power stations and underground stations.
Alastair is actively involved in each Platform project.
